Stakeholder survey

Reference number
Coordinator Lunds universitet
Funding from Vinnova SEK 140 000
Project duration July 2014 - December 2014
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The purpose of the survey was to determine whether respondents are in need of an Arena, which aims to speed up the development of ideas to commercial products/services. The survey was also designed to collect input on format and content of the Arena. Since the project confirmed stakeholder needs for the Arena and resulted in a number of concrete suggestions concerning content and format, the goals of the project were successfully reached. The project has given SWElife improved preconditions for developing an Arena that can speed up development of research ideas to practical applications

Results and expected effects

The stakeholder survey confirmed the need for a venue like the arena, with a focus on ´unmeet needs´ within a specific indication area. Several new ideas concerning content, focus and format for the Arena meetings were proposed. The project included a survey of issues that have made it more difficult or hindered the development of ideas into commercial product. These challenges are well suited to be addressed in the context of the Arena. A secondary effect of the stakeholder survey was to raise the profiles of the Arena and SWElife among key stakeholders within life science in Sweden.

Approach and implementation

The project was carried out by a strong team consisting of academics and industry representatives, and external organizational consultants. Key individuals who had worked, or are working, with diabetes from academia, industry and health care, as well as investors and groups of patient organizations were interviewed. The survey was conducted via telephone in a quantitative approach with qualitative elements, which means that respondents had the opportunity to comment on their answers and answer open questions.
