Purpose and goal
The project "Sports in Shelters" aims to strengthen both civil protection and public health through more functional and usable shelters. The project aims to develop a scalable concept with drawings, sketches and guiding principles for how tomorrow´s shelters can be integrated into the social structure and used continuously in peacetime as spaces for sports, and can be quickly converted in times of crisis.
Expected effects and result
If more shelters can be adapted or designed for sports, the use of shelters will increase, and sports facilities will be located where people are. Knowledge about shelters will increase, as will where they are located. It will also be more cost-effective as the sports facilities can contribute income to the property owner.
Planned approach and implementation
The project is implemented in four work packages that include user and context studies, concept development, technical solutions, and communication and dissemination. Prototypes will be developed based on real shelters where project participants can contribute knowledge about design and development, sports needs, and knowledge about property development and management.
