Purpose and goal

The aim with Smart Textiles is to develop and provide concrete textile innovations that can be used in innovative, commercial products in unexpected ways. The business is a driving force when it comes to facilitating and creating new cooperation´s between academia and the industry. We are the link needed for innovative solutions between the textile knowledge that exists in the industry and the ongoing research and education. Today, our business is as much a national and international concern, where we are the driving force in Sweden developing smart textiles.

Expected results and effects

We contribute to a better world-seen from our mission in social benefits, international aspects, and with the results we generate. Resource efficiency, sustainability, and health/well-being, something that becomes more clear when we take advances in health and medicine sector as well as in the field of architecture as example. Smart Textiles has generated good results with over 50 started businesses. During 2006-2016, more than 200 prototypes have been developed and more than 60 products are now on the market. The success factor is production expertise, prototyping and research.

Planned approach and implementation

Strategies at different levels are developed and formulated in a business plan. How we become an international leader, the future financing and business intelligence is something that also formed the basis for the work. These strategies consist of six target areas with related strategic objectives and strategies. The target areas are Prototype Factory, Commercialization, Brand, Research, Focus areas and Funding. An annual Roadmap is drawn up to further support the work, consisting activity areas and activities. This Roadmap focuses on various target areas from year to year.
