Smart Sustainable City Digital Innovation Platform, SSC-DIP

Purpose and goal

The purpose is to investigate and plan for a testbed in the Slakthus/Globen-area of Stockholm. A temporary platform has been set up by the Project Grow Smarter with the purpose to measure and analyse traffic in the area. Real time data is collected from vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians. The sensors are connected with the IBM IOT Watson platform and analysed in the IBM Big Data platform. The project will investigate how this temporary platform can be made permanent, and at the same time broadened and developed to a platform for innovation, where applications and services can be developed.

Expected results and effects

The daily flow in the area, with its three arenas, is perfect for testing and evaluating smart solutions for traffic flows and related logistics. It will also support the development of applications aiding visitors. The area will develop from an industrial area to a residential area. The data from the testbed could be supportive for the planning of the area and for Communication. The benefits from the testbed are: - reducing the transport emissions in the area with 60% - increasing quality of life for citizens and visitors to arena events - increasing the productivity and create growth

Planned approach and implementation

The below listed activities are planned: - Identify requirements, applications and stakeholders for the testbed - Analyse testbeds in other places - Measure the current environmental impacts in the area based on the testbed built by Grow Smarter - Calculate and describe the environmental and other benefits of the planned testbed - Estimate the growth potential of the test-bed. - Investigate configurations of actors and roles for the test-bed - Procure an initial specification for the test-bed including both needed hardware and software - Procure an plan for the execution of the project
