Important results from the project
The purpose of the SMASh-project is to support the implementation of Smart Maintenance by increased collaboration within the maintenance community. By developing Smart Maintenance Assessment - a tool for benchmarking of maintenance organizations - the project has made it possible for manufacturing plants and industrial service providers to develop roadmaps and digitalization service to support the implementation of Smart Maintenance.
Expected long term effects
The SMASh-project has fulfilled all 7 expected results: 1. Validated tool for Smart Maintenance Assessment; 2. Database for benchmarking; 3. Digitalization services and roadmaps; 4. Guidelines for quantifying the value of maintenance; 5. A definition of Smart Maintenance; 6. Academic publications and theses; 7. Course modules. These results have contributed to the effect goal that Swedish manufacturing companies have started their digital transformation and increased the collaboration with other companies, with the long term goal of realizing failure free production.
Approach and implementation
Discrete and continuous manufacturing firms, industrial service providers, and academic partners have collaborated during the project to define Smart Maintenance; develop and validate the tool by means of advanced statistical methods; and develop roadmaps and digitalization services. All partners have collaborated throughout the project and participated in all work packages, as well as continuously following the time plan and milestones. Owing to this, all project goals were achieved on time.
