Important results from the project
The project met its original objective by delivering a functioning smart digital twin that supports the airport´s electrification through energy simulation, optimization and real-time monitoring.
The solution enables peak load management, operational decision support and long-term investment planning.
The project also contributed to improved energy measurement and strong scientific results with several publications.
Expected long term effects
The digital twin can become a key tool for energy management, reduce the need for grid reinforcements, support climate goals and contribute to scientific development.
Approach and implementation
The project was implemented with clearly defined work packages.
Package 1: Establishment of basic prerequisites for the digital twin, including data security and architecture definition.
Package 2: Development of the digital twin for energy optimization, which was mainly led by Uppsala University in close collaboration with Swedavia. This package included system design and development of core functionality. The solution was completed as a demonstration version.
