Important results from the project

The strategic innovation program Metallic Materials aims to realize the strategic research and innovation agenda "Nationell samling kring metalliska material" through its own efforts and by complementing, strengthening, and inspiring other initiatives that contribute to fulfilling the agenda. During 2020 - 2023, the program has focused on maximizing the potential of the established working methods and build upon the initiatives that have shown the greatest potential. It has also addressed the areas highlighted in the updated (2019) strategic agenda.

Expected long term effects

During the period 2020 to 2023, the program has launched 8 calls for proposals (including two with increased funding via Sustainable Industry), resulting in 68 projects. Additionally, 9 individual projects have commenced during this period. The portfolio addresses all the areas specified in the agenda.

Approach and implementation

The Program´s governing body is the Program Board, comprising representatives from program owners, innovation, and Vinnova. The Program Office, aided by the Agenda Council, handles operations. The Agenda Council ensures alignment with the strategic agenda across seven areas. Ongoing evaluation of the project portfolio makes sure the efforts are appropriate. The program also took part in Vinnova´s "Sustainable Industry" initiative
