Purpose and goal
The main objective of the project is to further verify robust processes where rare earth metals are selectively extracted from eudialyte concentrates without gel forming problems due to the silicate content. This aims to further increase the efficiency of the processes required to access rare earth metals from eudialyte deposits in Sweden, thereby strengthening the resilience of Swedish industry.
Expected effects and result
The project aims to improve the processes carried out in the chemical processing plant for the treatment of eudialyte concentrate, especially the pretreatment and leaching. This is done by studying in detail the effect of different process conditions and different approaches to verify and improve the extraction of rare earth metals from eudialyte minerals.
Planned approach and implementation
The project intends to use concentrates of different grades and in particular to take higher quality eudialyte concentrates generated from drill core material that is crushed and magnetically separated and pre-treat them in various ways to then minimize silicate dissolution during leaching. RISE will perform the pre-treatment and leaching as well as analysis of the resulting material.
