Project duration September 2018 - August 2019
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The purpose has been to contribute to the creation of a common industry standard and an established service for logistics companies´ access to digital locks. The project has investigated how the service can be owned, managed and developed by a jointly owned company. The project has in many extents been successful as all the planned parts have been completed. The overall result of the various work packages can eventually lead to decisions on implementation.

Expected results and effects

The project has resulted in conclusions and experiences in several areas to understand the conditions and challenges of establishing an open service in the logistics industry. The project has thus generated the basis for the project partners´ decision-making processes. The documentation includes a financial model that shows long-term conditions, a term sheet describing the business-law conditions and a technical revision of the service´s technical platform.

Planned approach and implementation

The project partners have been represented by permanent members in the project, who through their positions and knowledge have served as a steering group. The work has been divided into three work streams: Business Model, Technology and Law. Each workstream have used complementary resources from the project partners. For the support in business law and for tech audit of the system platform, the project partners have taken the help of external expertise.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
