Status Completed
Venture Collaboration projects in cybersecurity and digital infrastructure

Purpose and goal

The purpose of the project "Digital carrier of physical ID" was to explore the possibilities of using a mobile e-identification for identification in between individuals and companies as well as between individuals, both in the physical world and online. The goal of the project was to create a working prototype. Instead, we have developed and commissioned the first version of the application in production.

Expected results and effects

Through user tests, both the need and the understanding of the function "Digital carrier of physical ID" were confirmed. The need was also confirmed by conversations with various companies that have shown great interest. The first pilot project will be implemented in collaboration with a commercial partner in 2020.

Planned approach and implementation

Our starting point was the assumption that there was a need for a more efficient and secure identification in everyday life. We validated a number of design prototypes with various focus groups, then developed the chosen design in a few iterations where sub-goals were again validated with focus groups. We then released iOS and Android versions of the Freja eID app that could be used in the customer testing environment. In the end, we deployed the solution in production and ran broader user tests with objective to validate the concept live and gather ideas for further development.
