SENITH - Sharing Experiences to Navigate the Introduction of Trucks using Hydrogen

Important results from the project

The project has contributed to increased understanding of hydrogen truck applications, how different actors interact in the value chain, and how these may differ between regions. International networks have been strengthened between Sweden and California, and sharing of insights will continue in future projects. The insights will be used in at least two scientific articles, and have also inspired a web application that is used in education at Chalmers.

Expected long term effects

An in-depth understanding of how innovation in energy and transport systems interacts when introducing new technology, and how local and global aspects can come into play.

Approach and implementation

46 interviews with 50 people in hydrogen production, hydrogen stations, truck manufacturers, fleets, public agencies, and research were conducted. The data was analyzed, and the results were used as a starting point for two workshops, one in Davis, California (February) and one in Gothenburg (May). Both were attended by 30-40 people physically, with representation from Sweden and California on both occasions, and the results of the discussion were summarized afterwards in an online meeting.
