Important results from the project

The project and the joint foresight workshop in Estonia resulted in new and shared knowledge about foresight, weak signals, food system challenges and possible futures. The project´s joint collection and sharing/dissemination/communication of local initiatives for more sustainable food systems contributed to strengthened networks, deepened cooperation and increased engagement, which in turn can mobilize more local forces to secure and develop sustainable food systems.

Expected long term effects

The project results displays civil society´s and small primary producers´ contribution to the food system and food security, highlighting the need for innovation, new forms of organization and resource sharing with political influence and increased mobilization of resources. Deepened relationships and strengthened networks across borders create a platform for continued collaboration, knowledge exchange and joint projects, which can lead to structural changes and strengthened food security.

Approach and implementation

Project start-up, mobilization, planning. Collection of seeds of change, signals, examples. Implementation of a foresight workshop where participants focused on desirable futures and what local future food systems could look like. Based on weak signals, seeds of change and good examples, insights were shared on how local food systems can be strengthened. Continued collection and sharing of knowledge, inspiration, engagement, examples of local initiatives for more sustainable food systems.
