Purpose and goal

STIG aims to develop a trustworthy, secure and explainable AI-based decision support system for industrial production environments. By combining process data, metadata and expert knowledge, based on production ontologies, knowledge graphs, and causal models, the project will provide traceable recommendations for troubleshooting, optimization and maintenance. The goal is to demonstrate the solution in industrial settings and reach TRL 6.

Expected effects and result

The project is expected to deliver a demonstrated industrial decision support prototype featuring natural-language interaction, production ontologies, knowledge graphs and methods for secure AI deployment. The results will contribute to higher productivity, improved quality, reduced waste, increased trust in AI, and strengthened digital resilience and competitiveness within Swedish manufacturing.

Planned approach and implementation

The project is carried out through close collaboration between industry, academia and research institutes. Activities include collection of domain knowledge, development of production ontologies and AI-based decision support, integration and validation in industrial environments at Nexans and Profilgruppen, and evaluation of impacts, work practices and trustworthiness. Results will be disseminated through publications, seminars and industrialisation activities.
