Scalable national data sharing of omics data for healthcare, research and innovation

Important results from the project

The project delivered a large amount of desired results within the framework of national data sharing between central actors in Swedish healthcare, however, it is clear that work must continue within GMS to fully achieve the objective. The new technical solutions that the project delivered will now form the basis for further development and implementation in a number of areas both regionally and nationally.

Expected long term effects

The project´s work will facilitate data exchange between regions, authorities and quality registers, as well as make it easier for pharmaceutical companies to start new clinical studies in Sweden.

Approach and implementation

The project brought together several central actors within health and social care, including the seven university hospital regions. In addition to the regions, industry actors participated in the form of pharmaceutical companies and their industry organization LiF, researchers within DDLS, government agencies such as the Public Health Agency of Sweden and Regionala Cancercentrum. Throughout the project we have built strong collaborations that will be used in new development projects.
