Purpose and goal

The purpose of the project was to combine existing forecasting techniques with: 1 Vehicle data 2 Geosegmenting In addition 3 Create decision support through interface. The target was to conduct studies on the wester Swedish road net during winter 2014/15 based on a Volvo Car fleet and evaluate together with Svevia. Vehicle data has been established and adaptations to climate model done. Geosegmenting (detailed study of road segment regarding shadowing, altitude etc) is performed in sweeter Sweden. Interface is developed and is available on the project homepage.

Results and expected effects

The results of the project has three main features: 1 Effect 2 Work organisation 3 Business model The effect of RSI is judged to be economically beneficial. In this phase of the project, a clear and significant cost benefit is evident. A macro level (whole of Sweden) quantification is not done in this phase. The personnel of the entrepreneur Svevia has seen significant improvements in the process of preventive action decision making. Increased security and a possibility to organizational learning are the top effects. An orientation in business model and purchase methodology is performed

Approach and implementation

The project has been run from Q1 2014 to Q2 2015. The work was split in 6 ´work packages´. Effect and business model Climate model R&D, marketing Vehicle data Interace Validation measurements Every WP has been separately reported to the project manager by a project part. The project was managed through 3 gate meetings, 3 steering committee meetings and monthly project meetings. The project has mainly followed plan and with good communication between project parts. The project has been perceived positive and forward looking by the project parties.
