Project duration October 2016 - December 2017
Status Completed
Venture The strategic innovation programme for Metallic material

Purpose and goal

The aim of the project was to develop a well anchored roadmap for research and innovation for industrialization of metal additive manufacturing in Sweden. The roadmap has been developed and is supported by many Swedish stakeholders in the area.

Expected results and effects

To have a common roadmap will be the basis to reach the following vision: During the next 5 years a great number of small, medium and large sized companies should have evaluated AM and been able to set the direction for how to best utilize AM to strengthen their competitiveness, both nationally as well as internationally. For the next 20 years the vision is that Sweden, by a fast and resource effective industrialization, has taken a pole position in key competences as well as a prime provider in a number of areas and applications.

Planned approach and implementation

The project has mapped state-of-the-art for additive metal manufacturing, created a vision in the short and long term and identified priority research and innovation questions for rapid industrialization of metal AM in Sweden. After that a roadmap has been developed. Open workshops with great interest from many stakeholder have ensured a broad anchoring of the roadmap. The implementation has been running according to plan, thanks to wide support, great interest and a dedicated project group.
