Important results from the project
A prototype and documentation produced for the selected area. - 4 concepts were defined and one was developed to a prototype which in its turn was input into subsequent projects. The concept was based on needs identified through field studies in industrial companies. Knowledge increase of Gamification was achieved through seminars to which all participants were invited. - Seminars have been held by gamification specialists. - A gamification network was started. - The project was presented at a number of fairs. - Positioning techniques in harsh environments have been evaluated.
Expected long term effects
- The project has strengthened the image of gamification as a powerful methodology. - It has attracted the attention of the media. - A scalable prototype was developed and is available for new projects. It is applicable to other industries. - The project group´s composition with companies from different backgrounds has generated a greater understanding. - Several projects based on the feasibility study have started. - Increased public awareness concerning gamification was obtained through specialist participation. - A report on positioning in harsh environments has been developed.
Approach and implementation
- The staffing of the project with representatives from many different industries, units and sizes was powerful. The entire chain was represented: definers of specifications, end users, enterprises, suppliers and researchers. - The openness between companies and academia was good and created exciting contrasts and ideas, ´efficient crashs´! - Support from the definers of specifications created good conditions for the creativity of game developers. - End user participation in the project all the way from the start up meeting was important. - Joy and commitment among all participants.
