Purpose and goal
REST develops an analysis tool enabling industry to plan production from an energy perspective. By linking historical production and energy data with AI-based analyses, the connection between product mix and energy demand is explored. The aim is to provide companies with new decision-making capabilities, strengthen industrial competitiveness, and contribute to more flexible and climate-adapted production.
Expected effects and result
A clearer understanding of the links between production choices and energy demand will improve industry’s ability to optimize energy use. Prototype testing will show how the solution creates practical value and what digital conditions are required. Outcomes include strengthened competitiveness, reduced grid load, and greater use of low-cost intermittent energy. In the long term, new approaches for data-driven planning will foster a more sustainable industry.
Planned approach and implementation
The work is carried out in stages: first, methods are developed to understand links between energy and production. Then a digital platform is built to simulate production setups from an energy perspective. Finally, the solution is tested and evaluated in industrial environments with companies to ensure real benefits. Throughout the project, dialogues will also be held with actors in other sectors to spread results and create broader value.
