Purpose and goal

Participation in the DIT MedTech Opportunities Workshop and NHS Expo with the aim as a MedTech company to receive vital information on NHS organisation, how to engage with the NHS and how to ensure product development meeting NHS needs. NHS Expo is the biggest NHS-led event with an exhibition and conference with 5,000 persons from for instance the health care and commercial sector. Our goal was to create networks and contacts with key opinion leaders, potential business partners and NHS representatives as potential customers within laboratory medicine and emergency and intensive care.

Expected results and effects

As Hemcheck is not yet established in the UK market, DIT workshop and NHS Expo were excellent opportunities to gain more knowledge about how the market works, what it takes to establish there, reimbursement systems etc and to create business contacts and market our products for relevant customers and stakeholders. This is expected to lead to further discussions with potential, selected customers about if and how they should begin testing and using our solutions. At a later stage, this is expected to lead to us being able to more easily and more quickly establish Hemcheck in the UK market.

Planned approach and implementation

The event included 3 intense days in Manchester. Day 1 was a full-day workshop organized by the governmental Department for International Trade (DIT) focusing on how the UK healthcare market works and how to establish important contacts. Days 2-3 included visits to the NHS Expo, the largest healthcare fair in the UK. The focus was partly to meet important stakeholders through pre-arranged meetings and partly to discuss and showcase our concept for relevant exhibitors as well as to network with relevant customers and stakeholders to take the first steps into the UK market.
