Important results from the project
Voysys is a small company in Norrköping that has developed a world-unique solution for remotely operating vehicles and machines with low latency over varying data links. In this project, a small excavator has been developed and evaluated. A small excavator has a range of military applications, both near the front line and eg in mine clearance. The evaluations in the project have been very positive and show that the machine essentially delivers full excavator functionality remotely.
Expected long term effects
Through this project, Voysys has gained a deeper insight into the defense market, which may lead to future collaborations and thereby business opportunities. The demonstrator machine has also attracted attention from civilian actors in the construction market in Sweden, and discussions are ongoing to explore potential opportunities there.
Approach and implementation
The project has been carried out largely according to plan, both in terms of time and content. Voysys’ previous business model has been to deliver software, but in this project the entire hydraulic control system was done by Voysys, which has led to some new challenges in the form of hydraulic oil, cable routing, short circuits, and vibrations.
