Venture Challenge-Driven Innovation – Stage 1 initiation

Purpose and goal

The overall aim of Reinforced Cancer Rehabilitation is to create a long-term solution for cancer patients. We are creating a digital extension of the short rehabilitation that patients are offered. Together with the company "A good place" and their "Demenslotsen", we have started to create a Cancerlots which will offer information and knowledge on how to manage a cancer disease. The concept contains a VR room and we have also, together with rehab staff, developed a first basic concept for an AR-based mind walk.

Expected results and effects

Results of Step 1 is that we have created smaller prototypes in VR, education and support for loved ones, and we have worked with collaboration and a constellation around digitalisation. Expected effects if given the opportunity to continue working on these results is that VR becme an integrated part of cancer rehabilitation and thus contributes to a more fun rehabilitation. Educational efforts in the form of digitalization and university courses have potential to bridge knowledge across different organizational gaps. There is an international interest and scalability.

Planned approach and implementation

We have worked both in parallel and integrated with rehabilitation week, loved ones, VR, AR, digitization and other educational efforts. A VR-room is created at Lydiagården at the same time as research and student work at Design Sciences continue to develop the room. Support of loved ones has been integrated at Lydiagården. The course in patient perspective is planned to be given in both Lund, Uppsala and Helsinki. The digital rehabilitation has begun in the form of a navigation helper. All together, the interventions create a cancer rehabilitation support from a patient perspective.
