Important results from the project
The Swedish National Laboratory for Power & Energy and the National Laboratory for for Time & Frequency have collaborated and developed an improved PMU calibration system. The calibration functionality now includes not only phase angle related to absolute time but also frequency and Rate Of Change OF Frequency, ROCOF. The measurement uncertainty in absolute phase is now about 50 ns.
Expected long term effects
The work is now continuing to further improve the PMU calibration system and it is now in demand and used in projects with Swedish grid operatorsplayers, e.g. in the development of digital net stations.
Approach and implementation
The project initially aimed at analyzing and trying to sharpen the original PMU calibration equipment. During the project it was decided to change tracks and build a new system with more efficient and precise components.
