Important results from the project
Achieved project objectives : A survey of Swedish participation in relation to other European nations´ participation in projects applied within the mining and metallurgical industry in special EU-programmes. Based on workshops and interviews conducted: a. Barriers and potential incentives for participation in EU-projects have been identified. b. Proposals for call texts that reflect the Swedish mining cluster´s needs for research and innovation at EU level have been compiled.
Expected long term effects
Swedish participation in EU research projects, applied in the mining and metallurgical industry, is expected to be strengthened in the long term by: - Important research and innovation challenges have been identified and concretized in the form of proposed call texts for upcoming EU programmes. - The need for a national coordinated strategy for participation in EU programmes has been identified.
Approach and implementation
A systematic survey of Swedish participation in EU research projects, applied within the mining and metallurgical industry, was carried out along with collection of information from the Swedish mining cluster. The collected material, together with input from views, has been used to develop proposals for call text. The work has been carried out in collaboration with representatives from Swedish mining and metallurgical industry and research actors.
