Important results from the project
The project met its objectives. Recycled graphite from spent batteries was purified to high quality. Four application areas were identified: battery anodes, flow plates, graphene, and fire-safe composites. The technical feasibility and commercial potential of these use cases will be further verified in Stage 2. The results from Stage 1 form a strong foundation for extended industrial collaboration in the next phase.
Expected long term effects
The project supports reduced import dependence, increased circularity, and lower climate impact. It strengthens Sweden’s position in sustainable recycling and opens new opportunities for industrial use of secondary graphite.
Approach and implementation
The project followed the planned timeline, including material sourcing, characterization, purification, and identification of application areas. All activities were completed on schedule. Collaboration between partners worked effectively and contributed to strong results.
