Purpose and goal

Our goal with this project was to test a methodology where you create your own house in 3D and is able to visualize a rebuild project. The idea is that private house owners can collect data in a short time (less than one hour) and then themselves be able to model changes to their house in an app, take measurements and discuss with family and carpenters. The entire process should be simple and no prior knowledge of CAD software or similar should be required. In this project we have tested and evaluated the method and application and got positive results from both.

Expected results and effects

The Market survey showed large interest in the product and a willingness to pay for it. The tests of the prototype then gave us positive positive feedback on the method as well as refined requirements for taking the product to market. We see great potential in the product. Thanks to this project, we have verified the prototype. Our analysis shows he product is scalable. And we now have the knowledge of how it needs to be designed and delivered to meet the requirements individuals have when they rebuild their home.

Planned approach and implementation

The project has involved preliminary interviews with homeowners that are about to rebuild their house, building permits administrators and hardware stores. This was followed by broader a market research where people were interviewed outside of hardware stores to create a broader picture of the requirements. We gathered information on what functionality the prototype should contain as well as willingness to pay for the service. After developing the prototype a dozen individuals have tested the entire flow from collection to modeling.
