Coordinator Grafren AB
Funding from Vinnova SEK 500 000
Project duration June 2026 - June 2027
Status Ongoing

Call Support to small and medium-sized enterprises for testing and evaluating technology solutions that contribute to defense innovation

Purpose and goal

The project´s aim is to verify and validate Grafrens Stealth Composites-teknologi by measuring the radar reflectivity (Radar Cross Section, RCS) of UAV prototypes in an anechoic chamber. The goal is to quantify how much the technology reduces the radar signature, produce high-quality RCS images, and thereby prove the technology´s performance and maturity for continued industrialization and use in the defense sector.

Expected effects and result

The project is expected to deliver verified measurement data showing the radar-reducing effect of Grafren´s composite material, which strengthens the credibility of the technology and increases its technical maturity. The results will be used for continued product development, future flight tests, commercialization and dialogue with Swedish and European defense actors. In the longer term, the technology is expected to contribute to more survivable UAV systems of low weight and zero maintenance.

Planned approach and implementation

The project has six work packages (WP1–WP6): construction of UAV, development of stealth design, verification on 2D panels, fabrication of full-scale prototypes, RCS measurements in anechoic chambers, and analysis and reporting of the results. The funding sought only concerns WP5 – Characterization and Evaluation, while the other work packages are financed by Grafren as its own effort. The project will run for approximately 12 months with clear milestones and deliverables for each work package.
