Project duration October 2014 - December 2015
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The aim has been to explore new ways to bring programming into the classroom. With the aim to create desire and interest we have held tests with teachers who attend Tom Tits training programs and also teachers at Quirkbots own partner schools. With this done, we have determined that we´ve reached the ambition to instill curiosity for Quirkbot as a pedagogic tool for programming. We have also created a forum where teachers can discuss with us and each other, a great platform to share ideas etc.

Results and expected effects

The design of Quirkbot in connection to the basic school curriculum has proven to work well. An easily accessible interface has been developed which allows even a teacher with no previous programming knowledge to get involved. Further educational materials are desirable to get an easy start for classes without any prior knowledge.

Approach and implementation

The project has been divided into 3 phases. 1) to finish the hardware development, 2) to finish the programming interface 3) to test Quirkbot activities with Tom Tits associated teachers. We now have a great foundation to start from in developing more educational materials based on the feedback. Based on the insights from this project a more holistic educational offer is now being developed under the product name www.themakerbox.com and we look forward to bringing this to the educational market.
