Important results from the project

The project achieved its goals to a large extend. Through workshops, meetings, working groups and demonstration-oriented activities, it established a stronger environment for quantum communication. The project has helped connecting academic, industrial and public sector actors, has strengthened knowledge exchange, clarified future research and innovation needs and has contributed to a shared vision, roadmap and collaboration structure for continued development of the field.

Expected long term effects

The project can enhance Sweden´s position in quantum communication by linking theoretical excellence to technology and infrastructure development. It can support advances in hardware as well as in protocols for key distribution, entanglement distribution, and the management of future quantum networks. It can also provide a basis for future projects with telecom operators and international partners, while helping translate research excellence into innovation for scientific and industrial needs.

Approach and implementation

The project was carried out through workshops, meetings, working groups and strategic dialogues. These activities suited the project phase and followed the plan and timeline. Although six months was a short period for mobilising such a broad community, the project created strong links across academia, industry and public organizations. As a result, the collaboration will continue beyond the project end, with further work on technology development, awareness building and future funding paths.
