Coordinator STIFT FRAUNHOFER-CHALM.CENTRUM F INDUSTRIMATEMAT - Stiftelsen Fraunhofer-Chalmers centrum för industrimatematik
Funding from Vinnova SEK 50 000
Project duration October 2013 - February 2014
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The goal of the planning project was to strategize and establish contacts to promote industrial mathematics developed at the Fraunhofer-Chalmers Centre (FCC) in the Brazilian market and establish bilateral collaborations in the field. The full application describes how we plan to carry out missions for the Brazilian automotive industry, market FCC software and establish cooperation with the Brazilian Institute CeMEAI.

Results and expected effects

For cooperation between the FCC and CeMEAI, joint projects are planned in areas of interest to both institutes and countries. These will be coordinated by the applicant. As a pilot project, we plan Optimization of robotic courses for spray painting applications, which also will involve the Brazilian automotive companies. FCC has already world-leading research on this subject and it matches the interest of process optimization as expressed at the company visits.

Approach and implementation

For the planning project, the applicant visited the industrial mathematics institute CeMEAI as well as several other research institutes and universities to discuss co mmon interests and potential collaborations. Several automotive companies have been contacted and visited where the applicant has presented and demonstrated FCC software for simulation of surface treatment processes. This has result ed in many valuable research and industry contacts for the future work.
