Important results from the project
The aim of the project has been to develop a new inspection technique for high buildings and other structures with physical accession difficulties by using remote controlled flying equipment. As a first step visual inspections are studied with focus on picture reading by help of a reference pictures of different typical concrete damages. In a later project techniques for preventive measures and repair will be studied.
Expected long term effects
The results from the carried out flying inspections in the project shows that the technique need to be developed and complemented in number of areas. Some patent rights has been applied for and more will be applied for in future project. A reference library containing pictures of typical concrete damages has been compiled. Future users of the new inspection technique have been contacted to form a reference group.
Approach and implementation
A number of flying inspections has been done with successively modified equipment on high towers, bridges and other different objects. Different photo techniques has been used, fixing and filming. Picture data was stored in the flying equipment and also transported to the ground based equipment. The wireless positioning of the flying equipment has been done by direct visual control and also by special realityspectacles which gives a picture from the camera on the flying equipment.
