Important results from the project
The purpose was to develop a production line for manufacturing and deposition of bipolar plates for fuel cells for the automotive industry. This included the development of a new deposition system. The goal was to reach a productivity of 200 bipolar plates per hour. The succesful outcome has positioned us as a world leading manufacturer of depositions and deposition systems.
Expected long term effects
The prototype deposition system that was developed has a capacity of 200 to 300 plates per hour. The new deposition sources have improved distrubution and rate. The newly developed deposition system has generated the first sold deposition systems for the fuel cell market.
Approach and implementation
The project was running for a duration of 24 months and separated in 10 working packages where the two project partners Impact Coatings and Borit have been responsible for about 5 each. The work packages have been conducted in parallel and where possible iteratively to get full effect. Both partners has been involved in the specification for different sub systems.
