Important results from the project
The overall objective is to increase the technical and commercial maturity of a newly developed alloy, Tanbium. The project goal, to develop a strong business case and broaden stakeholder engagement, has been achieved. The business development plan was improved after discussion with stakeholders and business development experts, and a strong project application submitted to the European Commission´s EIC program.
Expected long term effects
Upon secured funding, successful development and commercialization of Tanbium alloy is expected. Tanbium has the potential to provide Europe with autonomy and competitiveness in space industries, and meeting the demands for high performance materials in space and other sectors (e.g., aeronautics, defense), ultimately promoting growth of academic and industrial sectors and economic independence from global markets.
Approach and implementation
The project was organized into three work packages, management, stakeholder engagement, and Market- and business-case assessment. A cross-functional team with shared responsibilities was set but with clearly defined tasks accountability. Milestones were set for key deliverables, with biweekly progress reviews to summarize progress and monitor budget and timeline.
