Project duration March 2024 - December 2024
Status Completed

Important results from the project

The pre-project has contributed to clarify needs and benefits as well as creating an anchor in the industry around a greater effort on system innovation for the development of smart calls to Swedish ports. It is about coordination of ship calls as well as just-in-time. Within the framework of the project, the University of Gothenburg has produced a report on the law and logistics for Just-in-time as part of smart calls.

Expected long term effects

The pre-project has aimed to facilitate a system demonstrator to develop, catalyze, test and make system changes in the port call process, where technology, business logic, incentives, contractual and legal solutions combined with attitudes, customers and partnership work together within a limited area. Our long-term effort to streamline port calls is expected to lead to higher transport quality, better planning conditions and reduced emissions.

Approach and implementation

The pre-project had the ambition to work with several of the actors who are involved in a port call in order to gather information, find gaps and secure roles, commitment and participation in order to be able to in future phases carry out more large-scale system demonstrations. The efforts have primarily consisted of visits, dialogues, and workshops to identify gaps, and obstacles, as well as to initiate the process of identifying solutions, engaging stakeholders, and disseminating information.
