Important results from the project

The purpose of the pilot study was to systematically increase AI maturity and facilitate a national effort on AI within healthcare. Through AI maturity assessments and pilot projects in two regions, sub-goals were achieved. Suggestions for adapting the maturity measurement for the public sector were identified. Development of networks and coordination with initiatives and authorities laid the groundwork for future national collaboration.

Expected long term effects

As a result of the AI maturity assessment and the work with systematic AI implementation, the participating regions have identified and implemented several concrete steps to improve AI capability. Expected effects include strengthened organizational capacity for AI implementation, as well as initiated collaborations that can lead to a more coordinated and efficient implementation of AI in healthcare.

Approach and implementation

The setup and implementation of the preliminary study, focusing on the AI maturity assessment and pilot projects in selected regions, has proven to be an effective way to systematically increase AI capability within the regions. The work to broaden engagement at a national level, by involving authorities and several regions, has however highlighted the time-consuming challenges in creating broad collaboration, which underscores the need for further efforts to achieve complete national anchorage.
