Purpose and goal

The project aims to develop a digital twin for steel plants focused on electric arc furnaces, combined with advanced forecasting and operational decision support. The objective is to enable informed real-time decisions that improve forecast accuracy, support flexible and energy-efficient operation, and reduce imbalances and costs in electricity markets.

Expected effects and result

The project will deliver a demonstrated solution that reduces electricity costs and imbalances through improved forecasting and active operational control. It enables energy-efficient and flexible production, strengthens industrial competitiveness, supports fossil-free steel production, and builds capabilities in AI and digitalization.

Planned approach and implementation

The project is structured into work packages covering data management, development of forecasting and optimization models, and user-oriented decision support tools. The solution will be developed iteratively and tested in controlled environments before deployment in real operations, ensuring relevance through close collaboration between industry and research partners.
