Important results from the project

TLV has the government´s assignment to, via a policy lab, carry out a trial operation with a community pharmacy service. The services aim to increase compliance with prescribed treatment. The aim is to report to the government which services have an effect on the use of medicines, propose a reimbursement model and a regulatory framework for public reimbursement.

Expected long term effects

** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** In 2022, the first trial of a pharmaceutical service, Inhalation guidance, has been carried out in 150 pharmacies and just over 7,900 patients. In approximately half of the cases (49%), the pharmacist corrected the patient´s inhalation technique, which provides the conditions for better medication use and better health.

Approach and implementation

About 700 pharmacists received competency training. The trial was conducted at seven different pharmacy operators over three months. Evaluation was carried out by the Association of Swedish pharmacies and supplemented with a literature review of previous research on inhalation guidance services.
