Project duration April 2019 - March 2020
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The aim of this project is to develop an industry-independent platform technology for converting kinetic energy from vibrations into electricity to power IoT sensor networks. This has been performed together with customers/partners where a dedicated focus has been placed on two fields of applications: mining and railway. Our harvester designs have been validated and tested for use in their intended applications and manufacturing capabilities for these designs have been put in place. The success of the project has enabled us to approach the market a lot faster than expected!

Expected results and effects

Now that we have reached a level where the products are considered sufficiently ready for market introduction, we will focus on selected customers on the integration of our products in the customers´ applications. This will be done by taking a closer look at the official certifications that need to be achieved for a controlled introduction to be carried out. In short, this enables a faster establishment in the market than would otherwise have been possible.

Planned approach and implementation

We have planned and performed the project in accordance with the work packages that can be found in the original application. When looking back, it´s evident that there´s been a small overlap between WP2, WP3, and WP4 where WP3 and WP4 have started a bit earlier than expected. This is something that we realized would happen during the project after closer discussions with customers/partners and hence also something that we deemed to be valuable enough to divert, ever so slightly, from the original project plan. The work has been carried out by the same people as originally planned.
