Important results from the project
The project has fulfilled its objective of producing a competitive proposal for the international Driving Urban Transitions 2025 call for proposals. A proposal on nature-based solutions and climate adaptation of schoolyards was submitted in April 2026. The planning project enabled in-depth collaboration with the international partners and further development of the project design, scientific basis and implementation plan.
Expected long term effects
If the applied project is granted funding in the international the call for proposals, the project is expected to lead to in-depth knowledge of nature-based solutions in schoolyard environments. The objective of the applied project is to develop a modular catalogue of nature-based solutions for school environments and a VR-based digital decision support system. The project aims to facilitate decision-making and implementation of projects that transforms schoolyards into green environments.
Approach and implementation
The project involved regular meetings within the project consortium as well as work on compiling research data and planning implementation. Through close cooperation between the international partners, a proposal was developed in a relatively short time, and the work was carried out according to plan.
