Purpose and goal
The goal of the project is to create the foundation for a future production of a new groundbreaking material; a graphene composite made from biomass. The material has properties which makes it suitable for electronic applications, among others. The production is at the moment done in laboratory environment in very small batches, which is both time consuming and costly. We want to explore the possibility to scale up to a process based pilot production in a new facility.
Expected results and effects
The project shall result in a developed separation step that will make the production method process friendly. To be able to produce in a continuous process is important to make the production economically viable. The lab work shall result in a process specification and a quality specification. A market analysis will also be performed and an evaluation of the cost of production. This will act as a foundation for the decisions that need to be taken regarding the future pilot production.
Planned approach and implementation
The project will consist of development of a new separation step as well of testing the steps in the production procedure with varying parameters followed by quality control. All experimental work will be performed in the Elektrum Lab in Kista, Sweden. Lab work, the cost calculations and the market analysis will be performed by Bright Day Prototypes. As a preparation for the pilot production, possible partner companies will be approached to discuss possible process design solutions.
