Important results from the project

The pilot project - platforms for strategic relationship building based on innovation has aimed to strengthen Sweden´s innovation work in India. During the duration of the pilot, the innovation platform (now Sweden India Innovation Initiative, SIII) has enabled, through the functions External communication, Network building, Partnership Development Activities and Internal coordination, several activities with the goal of initiating and facilitating bilateral cooperation between Sweden and India.

Expected long term effects

SIII has created a platform for strategic relationship building based on innovation. Through the activities, a number of connects and opportunities for collaboration have been created between Swedish and Indian innovation actors. These activities include seminars, matchmaking, facilitation of collaboration projects. Through the activities, we see a strong interest in Sweden and Swedish innovation in India and vice versa, and good opportunities for continued work within the platform.

Approach and implementation

The activities have been able to be carried out in line with the activity plan. In 2020, Covid-19 impacted some planned activities, which needed to rescheduled or canceled. The activities have been coordinated in close collaboration with the Office of Science and Innovation and Vinnova. Overall learnings include 1) simplifying the steering of the project (was altered after y1) and 2) enabling longer planning cycles for collaboration projects, especially in terms of project financing available.
