Reference number
Coordinator Volvo Personvagnar Aktiebolag - Avd 94000, PV2A
Funding from Vinnova SEK 1 415 147
Project duration November 2014 - July 2015
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The overall aims of the project have been to a) take the new function PAW from concept to a software service and b) to use PAW as a pilot to find new ways of organising the cooperation between an OEM and a software product supplier in order to reach a competitive software service. The concept has been developed so that customer benefit and technical feasibility could be assessed, a report and analysis of barriers for organising innovation work between the parties have been made as well as models and processes, to enhance the cooperation and development of similar products, have been drafted.

Results and expected effects

During the project, further development and understanding of the concept PAW have been created. However, a definite decision has not been reached on common integration of the function. Efforts will be made from both parties also after the project with the aim to make this happen. The generic findings and models/processes that has been created during the project will however mean that both the OEM and supplier will be greatly helped in the further work. It will be beneficial both for the continuation of this particular PAW integration as well as for further future cooperations.

Approach and implementation

The project has been conducted in four phases: 1)Integration of work processes 2)Development of the PAW 3)Business model and IP 4)Evaluation Within this work there have been approximately ten work meetings, about twenty interviews and nine steering group meeting where discussions and decisions on the coordination of the work in the four phases have been made. The work has been prioritised by all three parties. Initially there were some resource issues within Volvo Cars which was partly resolved by a move of the project end date by about two months.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
