Important results from the project
The project met its goal of testing a model where students support digital development in SMEs. It led to increased digital maturity, new ways of working, and stronger collaboration with academia. The project also resulted in continued development efforts, new business opportunities, and greater understanding of how student involvement can add valuable skills.
Expected long term effects
The project is expected to boost digitalization and innovation in SMEs within the process industry and its value chain. Through student collaboration, companies gained new perspectives, tools, and networks. Long-term effects include improved talent access, business development, and stronger ties with academia.
Approach and implementation
The project was carried out as planned, focusing on matching small and medium-sized companies in the process industry with students. The matching process took more time than expected, so we chose to work with fewer companies to ensure quality and feasibility. Collaboration between project partners and students worked well, thanks to active and effective supervision. Several companies are now continuing to develop their solutions further.
