Important results from the project
The project has involved several actors in the process industry, their suppliers, academia and institutes in workshops and we have outlined a common approach regarding process intensification (PI). We have also improved the national coordination regarding PI, in order to facilitate a broader application of PI. The work for establishing sustainable and effective process development and a national platform to drive research, innovation and development of PI is started. A Nordic platform is planned for. The financing is a remaining issue to solve.
Expected long term effects
Through our work, we have identified the possibilities and challenges in order to have a fully established, sustainable and effective process development as a central area of strength for the Swedish process industry in the future. We also have the foundation for a platform for coordination of research, innovation and implementation of PI in the Nordic countries. This foundation is now ready to create conditions for managing several of the challenges that lies ahead for the Swedish process industry and to make the R&D more efficient between process industries, institutes and academia.
Approach and implementation
An initial analysis resulted in a draft and outline for the agenda contents. Thereafter a large workshop was held, where different themes were discussed in groups. This resulted in identification of the common needs that are most urgent to meet for both industry and academia. After a phase with writing and further analysis, the next workshop was held and a review of the agenda was done in several steps with the involvement of many participants before the final version was established. During the whole process, we have worked for engaging more actors to participate in the initiative.
