Important results from the project

The project objective was to further explore the opportunities that municipalities and property owners identified in the Parkcess feasibility study to reduce carbon emissions in the early stages of urban planning. The result is Parkyria - a digital collaboration platform for calculating parking and mobility measures, linked to both environmental and economic impacts. The beta is currently being tested by Lunds kommun.

Expected long term effects

The long-term impact of the project is a more efficient use of available resources—such as land, building materials, and finances—which reduces the need to build unnecessary parking spaces where possible. An efficient use of limited resources means systemic benefits for the environment, municipalities, property developers, and society at large. This also helps to standardize how municipalities and property developers can transition from analog planning processes to digital processes.

Approach and implementation

The project followed the project plan and was implemented with an iterative approach. In the first phase, Lund´s analog parking policy was converted into a digital format, which laid the foundation for the development of the platform. This platform includes a parking calculator and a marketplace, with a focus on Lund. All participants actively contributed through continuous follow-up meetings and joint workshops, physical and digital. Results have been disseminated nationally & internationally.
