Purpose and goal

Forestry is facing increased eligibility requirements on production, climate resilience, biodiversity, traceability and a safer working environment. The project brings together forest companies, research actors, technology and digital infrastructure providers to achieve a paradigm shift towards gentle, data-driven precision forestry where all the values of the forest can be weighed into planning and execution.

Expected effects and result

The results are expected to accelerate AI, digital working methods and the implementation of robotics and automation in forestry and lay the foundation for a long-term sustainable, competitive Swedish forest industry. -Robust digital infrastructure and connectivity that enables safe operation of autonomous systems. -Create standardized and quality-assured data that enables interoperability and data sharing along the value chain -New methods, AI decision support for precision forestry.

Planned approach and implementation

The collaborative project is implemented in six work packages that together represent the system to be changed: mobile connectivity, data, platform, decision support, value chain integration and governance/learning. The work is done iteratively with recurring demonstrations where tests of solutions is done in real environments and the results are used to adjust the requirements, priorities and design.
