Purpose and goal

The overall objective of the project: "To launch digitized workflow for pathology diagnostics in clinical operation, thus starting to realize benefits in terms of increased quality of care, efficiency and more equal care." The objectives of the project have completely been fulfilled . The implementation projects have shown that the developed digital pathology solution now is ready for clinical operation in a wider introduction. We have confirmed that the solutions are internationally viable and knowledge has been spread both nationally and internationally about the solutions.

Expected results and effects

The summary of the achieved results is that the digital pathology solution now is ready for a wide introduction. Several of the project partners are already up and running with digital workflow in clinical operation. Sweden is at the absolute forefront in the area of digital pathology, in comparison with other countries. This applies to both healthcare providers, industry and academia. There is no longer any doubt about the possibility of using digital solutions in clinical operation and that entails a great potential of improvement in terms of increasing efficiency and quality of care.

Planned approach and implementation

The project consisted of four co-operating areas: A: Implementation of digital workflows at Swedish care providers B: Proliferation of knowledge to support the clinical projects C: National cooperation in new technology innovation D: International validation of the developed IT solutions Throughout the project, there has been a close collaboration between healthcare, industry and academy, all contributing with their expertise in creating the best solutions for the pathology department.
