Purpose and goal

In the OpTex project, Innventia worked with Prof. L Cruickshank, U. Lancaster, UK, Imagination to have a plan for enabling a number of partners in different parts of the textile-like materials value chain to come together and collaborate within an open innovation perspective. Collaboration possibilities were also discussed with KTH and Konstfack. The project resulted in an analysis of relevant existing platforms having interesting formats, including potential stakeholders and their incentives for participation, and a draft plan for an OpTex open innovation platform.

Results and expected effects

OpTex resulted in an analysis of and insight in open innovation processes, a draft plan for implementation of an open innovation platform and concrete contacts for continued future collaboration. The largest expected effect is that Innventia has created a good starting point to build an open innovation platform as a complement to the current ways of working within projects.

Approach and implementation

As OpTex was a collaboration project between Sweden and the UK, the project was set up with Skype meetings, telephone conferences, email contact and physical meetings in Stockholm. The project´s structure, including digital and physical meetings, worked well but there were difficulties in communication about the physical workshop tools that were designed by Lancaster U.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
