Purpose and goal

The desired outcome of the project was the development of a cloud service for managing product data customized for e-commerce and distribution. The service was partly intended to meet the existing needs of our customers as Nudie, Twilfit, Odd Molly others while lifting product to a new level of innovation. The product cloud is used today by many of our customers and have both simplified management of product data and enabled growth through rapid access to new sales channels.

Results and expected effects

The anticipated effects of the project were that customers would be more efficient with how they manage product data and distribute it to partners and customers. Ultimately, the goal was that the service would help customers improve time-to-market and growth through both existing as well as new sales channels. As expected, digitization of high quality product and distribution of this in the value-chain helps our customers increase speed to market, and gain increase control over their information. The first customers are experiencing increased growth thanks to the service.

Approach and implementation

The project was divided into stages 1) project plan 2) feasibility study - plan / customer interviews 3) prototype 4) pilot 5) system architecture 6) user interface 7) integrations 8) sales / marketing. Stages 1, 2, 3 and 4 were completed as scheduled and on budget. During stage 5, we found that the project scope was more extensive than we planned, which resulted in delays and deviations in the budget. Stages 6 was carried out in autumn 2015. The phases 7 and 8 are partially completed and currently ongoing work. Some customers have been integrated and are using the service today.
