Call Deepened international collaborations for healthy and resilient societies

Purpose and goal

The purpose is to increase Nordic collaboration in proactive emergency care using wearables and AI. We do this by deepening the collaboration between Sahlgrenska University Hospital, Østfold University College (Norway) and the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). The goal is to move from personal contacts to an institutional partnership, with a joint strategic agenda for 2027-2030 and a mapping of the conditions for sharing wearable data between Sweden and Norway.

Expected effects and result

Results: (1) A joint strategic agenda for 2027-2030 including overarching research questions, a direction for how DTU´s and Sahlgrenska´s wearables platforms can complement each other and a plan for broadening the collaboration. (2) A basis for a future joint pilot analysis of existing data from smartwatches in Sweden and Norway. Effect: an institutionally anchored Nordic partnership with a foundation for joint studies, and in the long term a more proactive and resilient care.

Planned approach and implementation

The six-month project has three parts. (1) Consortium building and joint agenda with all three organisations: online meetings every other week and one in-person workshop in Gothenburg. (2) Swedish-Norwegian groundwork: mapping the ethical and legal conditions for sharing wearable data across the border and reviewing existing smartwatch data. No new data collection or individual-level analysis is included. (3) Project management, reporting and dissemination via Nordic networks.
