Important results from the project
The overall purpose and aim of a development project is to develop a technique and method for non-destructive localization of leaks in buildings with radio and radar technology. This would allow property owners and construction companies to identify leaks in existing and new buildings in order to fix these leaks. Thereby, energy consumption and flow of pollutants can be reduced. Technology and approach to be developed shall have a generic approach, which means that it also can be used in other areas and in different markets.
Expected long term effects
The goal of the project was to prepare and plan for future development projects. These objectives are achieved. It may be noted that current commercial potential was not as large as expected. That means that a more generic product must be developed, and that it works for more segments and in the international market. The collaboration with University of Gävle led to a trilateral cooperation with University of Missouri S&T, one of the leading centers of radar technology. University of Gävle has also been able to make its first measurements on a test wall with a radar scanner from Radarbolaget.
Approach and implementation
Radarbolaget has never before been preparing and planning for future development projects through a planning grant. This contribution has facilitated the work. It has also resulted in a more rigorous and comprehensive work than in ordinary project planning. The main advantage of the arrangement is that the project is critically examined both by market representatives in Bygginnovationen and by a government agency. An accepted application shows that there is a market need and that the project idea has potential. Radarbolaget received good feedback during the application process.
